Luis Ernesto Toledo Castro
Luis is a PhD researcher in the Intangible Realities Lab, working at the intersection of Human–Computer Interaction, Virtual Reality, and software design. Their research focuses on developing an interaction framework for Interactive Molecular Dynamics in Augmented Reality (iMD-XR) -through the software NanoVer- to investigate how interaction design, human factors, and chemical intuition can support scientific workflows in immersive environments.
Their work aims to improve the usability and accessibility of iMD-VR systems for both expert and non-expert users. In particular, they design and evaluate VR spatial tools for manual and semi-automatic molecular trajectory sampling, and develop heuristics and interface guidelines for iMD-VR applications.
Drawing on their professional experience in software interface design, they approach research through an interdisciplinary lens that combines technical, design, and human-centred perspectives. Alongside their research practice, they are also engaged in digital arts, which complements and enriches their work on immersive and interactive systems.
