CiTIUS is seeking outstanding researchers to join the Quantum IberIA project — Strategic Promotion of Capabilities in Quantum Technologies and Artificial Intelligence (QUANTUM IBER_IA) — a cross-border initiative funded under the POCTEP programme. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence, particularly Machine Learning, within an internationally collaborative and highly innovative environment.

CiTIUS is as research centre specialised in Intelligent Technologies with a team of more than 180 researchers. Our team is the greatest asset of our centre and we are continuously looking for scientific talent. CiTIUS provides a stimulating, interdisciplinary and cutting-edge scientific environment, where our researchers can foster and develop their scientific career in an international team.
We are in a high-level scientific environment with five research centres specialized in different areas (CiQUS, CiMUS, IGFAE, CRETUS and CiTIUS). Santiago de Compostela is a UNESCO World Heritage City with more than 5 million square meters of green spaces and one of the 100 best places in the world by TIME Magazine 2021.

Who can apply?
We are looking for candidates with a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related fields, with research experience in the application of Quantum Computing to Artificial Intelligence, particularly Machine Learning.
Requirements and desirable skills
- PhD thesis related to the application of Quantum Computing to Artificial Intelligence, particularly Machine Learning, and/or postdoctoral research experience in this field.
- Proficiency in one or more of the following languages: Galician, Portuguese, Spanish, and English.
- Candidates who defended their PhD thesis between 2020 and 2024 are especially encouraged to apply.
Position details
- Full-time contract.
- The position has a duration of 2.5 years and may be renewed upon completion, subject to an evaluation of scientific performance.
